The Depression Recovery Programme and the Building Healthy Self-Esteem Programme from our teams here at St Patrick’s Mental Health Services (SPMHS) are both part of our range of day programmes.
GPs can now refer patients directly to both of these programmes.
Depression Recovery Programme
Our Depression Recovery Programme is a 10-week online psychotherapy group intervention.
This programme offers education and support to people diagnosed with depression or who experience the symptoms associated with depression.
A team of mental healthcare clinicians, including cognitive behavioural therapists and psychiatric nurses, run the Depression Recovery programme, which takes place online through Microsoft Teams. Input also comes from a multidisciplinary team (MDT), including a consultant psychiatrist, occupational therapist, pharmacist and social worker.
The programme combines cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), compassion-focused approaches and mindfulness-based stress reduction.
On completion of the 10-week programme, service users may wish to receive ongoing support through the Depression Aftercare Programme, which runs as a half-day session once a month, for up to a year.
For more information on the Depression Recovery Programme, please contact our Referral and Assessment Service by emailing referrals@stpatricks.ie.
Building Healthy Self-Esteem Programme
The Building Healthy Self-Esteem (BHSE) Programme here in SPMHS is aimed at service users with low self-esteem.
The BHSE Programme uses CBT to help people to understand and improve their self-esteem.
The programme can support service users to:
- observe, understand and manage the symptoms of low self-esteem
- develop new skills to cope and deal with symptoms
- benefit from peer support as they meet and interact with others going through similar difficulties.
BHSE is an online group intervention. It runs for one half day for 10 weeks, and is held by a team of mental health professionals, including a cognitive behavioural therapist and nurses with expertise in cognitive psychotherapy, compassion-focused therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction.
For more information or if you have any queries regarding a patient’s suitability for this programme, please email referrals@stpatricks.ie to liaise with our Referral and Assessment Service.
Referrals from GPs
Patients do not need to be under the care of an SPMHS consultant to be referred to either of the programmes outlined above.
If you are referring a patient to a day programme, please note that your patient must have a diagnosis or history of a mental health difficulty. Please also be aware that the referrer retains clinical responsibility for the service user while they are attending an SPMHS programme.
You can see here how to refer a patient to one of these programme.
If you require any further information, you can also contact our Referral and Assessment Service by emailing referrals@stpatricks.ie or phoning 01 249 3635.
On receipt, all referrals are processed by our day services team for insurance clearance purposes.
