GP Webinar: Eating disorders in adolescence

In the sixth and final instalment of the 2026 GP Webinar Series from St Patrick’s Mental Health Services (SPMHS), Carol McCormack, Clinical Nurse Manager 3 and Petrina Tighe, Clinical Nurse Manager 1 at SPMHS’ Willow Grove Adolescent Unit will explore management of eating disorders in adolescence.

Eating disorders commonly emerge during adolescence and can have a significant impact on both physical and mental health. This hour-long webinar will cover the following topics:

  • Understanding eating disorders in adolescents
  • Recognising the signs and assessing a young person with a suspected eating disorder in the GP surgery
  • Managing eating disorders, including risk-assessment , referral and supporting young people and their families.
