GP Webinar: Overcontrol and its impact on mental health

GP Webinar Series: A family doctor views content on their laptop while taking notes in a notebook

Overcontrol and its associated impacts on mental health will be explored in a GP Webinar from St Patrick's Mental Health Services.

Taking place between 7pm and 8pm on Tuesday, 14 May 2024, this webinar will be presented by Dr Rachel Egan and Dr Clíona Hallissey of our Psychology Department.

Overcontrol, sometimes referred to as too much self-control, underlies a range of mental health difficulties. These include certain Axis I mood and eating disorders and Axis II presentations, such as obsessive-compulsive personality disorder and avoidant personality disorder.

This hour-long webinar will focus on what costly and harmful overcontrol looks like, how it presents, and the three core areas (themes) in which it impacts people’s lives.

GPs can submit their questions for speakers in advance by emailing communications@stpatricks.ie or during the webinar using the question and answer function on Zoom.

The webinar has been recognised for one Continuous Professional Development (CPD) point from the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP).

This webinar is free to attend, but registration is essential.

If you have any questions about this webinar or accessibility requirements for attending it, please email communications@stpatricks.ie.
