What the assessment involves
Led by a Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Nurse Manager, this new clinic recognises the challenges and demands facing women in midlife and the associated mental health impacts.
Women meet both the Clinical Nurse Manager or team registrar, and the Consultant Psychiatrist, as part of the assessment, which aims to take a holistic and tailored approach to each person’s needs.
The assessment informs recommendations for tailored treatment options and supports, with the goal of offering a treatment plan that can promote resilience, optimise mental health, and support wellbeing through midlife and beyond.
Assessment through the clinic is either online or in person, depending on the individual needs.
Who the clinic is for
The Midlife Women’s Mental Health Assessment Clinic is for women aged 45 to 65 who are experiencing changes or challenges with their mental health or wellbeing. This may include:
- low mood
- anxiety
- stress
- sleep difficulties
- emotional changes
- challenges related to menopause, life transitions or changing roles and responsibilities.
The clinic is suited to women who feel their mental health concerns are complex, persistent or influenced by multiple factors, and who would benefit from a comprehensive specialist assessment. It is also suitable for women who are motivated to better understand their mental health and explore tailored treatment options to enhance their wellbeing and support healthy ageing.

The cost of an assessment is €550, although, in some instances, depending on the person’s level of health insurance cover, there may be partial cover. The person being referred is advised to check their insurance cover prior to attending an appointment.
