GP Webinar Series | Older adult mental health: A psychological perspective

GP Webinar Series: A family doctor views content on their laptop while taking notes in a notebook

GPs and healthcare professionals are invited to our webinar on older adult mental health on 24 October.

This is St Patrick’s Mental Health Services' (SPMHS) fifth instalment of the 2023 GP Webinar Series. Dr Karen Looney, Principal Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist, and Dr Cliona Hallissey, Senior Clinical Psychologist, both staff here in SPMHS, will explore older adult mental health from a psychological perspective.

This hour-long webinar will focus on common themes in mental health among older adults and what GPs need to be aware of, as well as explore how to engage older people in conversations about their mental health.

Other topics that will be covered include barriers to older people engaging with mental health services, and the evidence base of psychological interventions for older adults.

Finally, Dr Looney and Dr Hallissey will discuss a number of services available for older adults’ mental health.

The webinar will take place from 7.30pm to 8.30pm on 24 October. You can register here.

GPs can submit their questions in advance by emailing communications@stpatricks.ie or during the webinar using the question and answer function on Zoom.

This webinar has been recognised for one Continuous Professional Development (CPD) point by the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP).
