Advocacy Update - March 2019

Women’s Mental Health Network

St Patrick's Mental Health Services (SPMHS) and the National Women’s Council of Ireland (NWCI) have come together to develop a Women’s Mental Health Network for people and organisations with a committed interest in women’s mental health.

Women’s Mental Health Network

The network aims to provide a forum for information-sharing and networking among interested parties, and to advance interdisciplinary and multi-agency collaboration to progress shared aims and goals in the promotion of women’s mental health.

The network was launched on Tuesday, November 6th 2018 in St Patrick’s University Hospital; an event which also saw the launch of the NWCI’s report – ‘Out of Silence: women’s mental health in their own words’. The event included a keynote address by Dr Clodagh Dowling, Principal Psychologist in SPMHS, on ’Listening to Women’s Experiences’ and a panel discussion including representatives from mental health support services within the Travelling Community and the Union of Students in Ireland.

We’re planning three network events over 2019, the first of which will be focused on perinatal mental health and will take place in May.

If you would like more information, or would be interested in joining the network, please email loleary@stpatsmail.com. It’s free to join and you can leave at any time by simply letting us know.
