CPD-accredited mental health information films for GPs
Via this new portal, GPs can now access a GP events calendar and view a range of mental health information films which have been produced by St Patrick’s Mental Health Services and tailored specifically for those working in the primary care health setting. Currently, there are three films available for viewing and upon completion, GPs will receive a CPD certificate of completion. Each film has been approved for 1 external CPD credit for Professional Competence by the Irish College of General Practitioners.
The films, which are approximately 30 minutes each in length, currently available are:
- Adolescent Mental Health: Dr Aileen Murtagh, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in St Patrick’s Mental Health Services, looks at common adolescent mental health difficulties that are likely to present in the GP surgery including internalising disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders and self-harming behaviours
- Anxiety Presentations in Primary Care: Dr Michael McDonough, Consultant Psychiatrist in St Patrick’s Mental Health Services, presents an overview of anxiety disorders and their presentations in primary care
- GP & Physician Mental Health: Professor Jim Lucey, Medical Director in St Patrick’s Mental Health Services, discusses the nature of delivering a health service while taking into account your own mental health.
How to access the portal
To access the GP Portal, please follow the following steps;
- The portal is accessible through the GP and Referrals section, under the Online GP CPD tab
- Click on the link to log in to the portal.
- You will be redirected to a separate window to create an account on your initial visit to the portal.
- To watch any of the films within the portal, click on the relevant film and enter the enrolment key; gpaccess18!
Once you have viewed a film, you can return to the portal to complete a quick online assessment and download your CPD certificate.
