500 parents, teachers and clinicians gathered at the Aviva Stadium for the 2nd annual Self Harm Awareness Conference.
Hosted by Pieta House and St Patrick's Mental Health Services and sponsored by Aviva the one day conference offered a mix of practical workshops and presentations relevant to teaching staff, community workers, parents and students.
The ninth edition of the Children’s Rights Alliance Report Card which analyses the Government on its key commitments to children was launched this week. The report identifies that during 2016 the promised review of Vision for Change was initiated and a Youth Mental Health Task Force was established.
Mental Health Recovery has now become the key organising principle underlying mental health services globally. In Ireland, mental health policy emphasises the need to have the Recovery model perspective endorsed at every level of mental health service delivery. Central to Recovery orientated practices is the shift from service led to consumer led initiatives. This emphasises the crucial importance of the person’s own voice and their quality of life as judged by the person who experiences mental health difficulties.
