The Mood and Anxiety programme at St. Edmundsbury Hospital was developed to intensively treat service users with both first episode and recurring mood disorders with the aim of full recovery and improvement in overall functioning.
The programme is a broad based therapeutic multidisciplinary led programme which aims to provide service users with knowledge, relapse prevention, and optimal pharmacological and psychological treatment of mood disorders.
The programme emphasises psycho education, group psychotherapy and behavioural activation which is provided through interactive lectures and group activities.
Lectures include illness definition, epidemiology, medical complications of refractory unipolar depression, the interaction between mood and substances, stress and anxiety, care planning and health and well-being.
The programme is open to all service users who are not attending a diagnosis specific programme, which are also available for service users to attend in St Patrick's Mental Health Services.
