
Dr Séamus Ó Ceallaigh is director of psychiatric intensive care and assistant medical director for Saint Patrick’s Mental Health Services. He is programme director for the Psychiatric Recovery Programme.
Dr Ó Ceallaigh is a medical graduate of University College Galway. He began basic training in psychiatry on the West of Ireland Rotation and competed his training at the Institute of Psychiatry and Maudsley Hospital in London. Dr Ó Ceallaigh worked as consultant psychiatrist in the National Psychosis Unit and the forensic mental health service within the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust before returning to Ireland.
Dr Ó Ceallaigh was appointed as Consultant Psychiatrist at St Patrick’s University Hospital in 2007 and has been deputy medical director since 2014.
Dr Ó Ceallaigh’s interests include the management of refractory forms of psychosis, the assessment and management of risk of harm associated with mental illness, and medico-legal aspects of mental illness.
