The ninth edition of the Children’s Rights Alliance Report Card which analyses the Government on its key commitments to children was launched this week. The report identifies that during 2016 the promised review of Vision for Change was initiated and a Youth Mental Health Task Force was established.
Mental Health Recovery has now become the key organising principle underlying mental health services globally. In Ireland, mental health policy emphasises the need to have the Recovery model perspective endorsed at every level of mental health service delivery. Central to Recovery orientated practices is the shift from service led to consumer led initiatives. This emphasises the crucial importance of the person’s own voice and their quality of life as judged by the person who experiences mental health difficulties.

Benzodiazepines are sedative drugs. They can provide rapid symptomatic relief from acute anxiety states. They form useful parts of the treatment of epileptic seizures and they are exceptionally valuable within anesthesia. However, their use in the treatment of an anxiety disorder has become very problematic.
Christmas is the time for wishing each other well, for giving season’s greetings. We send Christmas cards and wish each other a merry Christmas, a happy Christmas, a peaceful Christmas, even a holy Christmas. We look forward to the New Year and wish each other peace and prosperity. It’s good that we celebrate this Winter fest by hunkering down and comforting each other in this way and it’s understandable that we end one year and begin another with good wishes for the future.
